a pathetic little blog
When your long anticipated wait for your Fall clinical schedule ends and you find out the ONLY student you never want to see again is assigned to the same group.
FUCK MY LIFE.
I can only hope she throws another one of her fits and demands to be moved. I will be my normal grateful and happy student self so the real jackwagon is obvious. She is never grateful or happy so if she plays it, the fake will be obvious.
The good news is I’m at a nice hospital, slightly closer to home, and have one of the toughest (read: GOOD) instructors in the program. I anticipate the herd will be thinned this term, I just hope I am not in that bunch! I will do all I can to help myself and my classmates. Teamwork is important, I just hope the rest of the group gets it.

Ugh. I have not gotten my fall clinicals list yet. Can yall trade with each other? we are allowed to. The people like that (the whiny cranky ones that couldn’t hang) pretty much got weeded out by our instructors in Level 2.

At the end of the last semester we were asked for our preferences, which for me were a hospital closer to home and a day shift. That’s what I got. Unfortunately my home is close to hers, relatively speaking, so she got the same. When the assignments were posted there was a note to see your instructor on the first day if there was an issue. I’m not going to ask for replacement to another group, she will have to. I don’t need that stigma of ‘not playing well with others’ following me around. One of our instructors, the lead instructor for first semester, has already remarked that of the two, I’m clearly the one who is “mature and has left high school behind”. So her behavior has not gone unnoticed. The same instructor said the groups are going to get smaller due to the weeding process so the chances I will be with her all the way through are very likely.
There is a chance I could get moved just based on need since there are a few foreign students (legal residents) who don’t have SS#s yet and a couple others who have a conflict of interest, therefore can’t work at a particular hospital. If I get moved for reasons of logistics, cool, but I’m not going to do it because this chick is a raging bitch.
At the very least it gives me something to blog about since I had a six month dry spell
Nice to “meet” you.

wow! we have really great instructors and for the most part nursing school has been great, but we don’t get asked about our preferences for clinicals and we don’t know what they are until the week before the semester begins. We are allowed to trade with somebody if that somebody wants to trade, but it makes it quite difficult for childcare, etc. I’m going to Level 3 of 4 in the fall. Level 1 was pretty smooth, and level 2 was intense… and we lost 9/50 students. Most were weeded out from clinical “errors”… I will say the instructors notice behaviors and tend to be harsher on students that seem like they would make unsafe/unkind nurses, and the worst of the bunch didn’t make it through (and a couple that were really awesome, too).
I think I started following you when I was on an apprentice midwife list – can’t exactly remember – came very close to finishing (3 more primaries that I had lined up) but had to stop apprenticing/being on call pretty suddenly. I’m actually feeling much more rounded going through nursing school, so that’s nice.
Good luck!
